On October 15-16 took place the BDW Bucharest Conference, a community event focusing on all things data. We’ve gathered together software engineers, data scientists, data engineers, devops professionals, AI experts, as well as business leaders in search of actionable insights, or curious minds eager to grasp the complexities of big data and AI to discuss the latest trends, solutions, and other unique insights or implementations. This event was designed not only to inspire and educate attendees but also to redefine our collective understanding of data in an increasingly data-driven and AI-driven world.
Participants had the opportunity to engage with industry experts, attend informative sessions, and explore innovative technologies that are shaping the future of data & AI. Through collaborative discussions and hands-on workshops, attendees gained valuable insights into best practices, emerging trends, and the practical applications of big data and AI solutions across various sectors.
Big Data Week Bucharest served as a platform for networking and knowledge sharing, and we are happy to share with you the two talks we presented on the main stage.
What if you could have a Kubernetes-native, dynamic, and modular data platform for managing and analyzing large-scale data? By leveraging the power of Kubernetes and open-source technology, this approach offers the flexibility needed to address both simple and complex data scenarios.
In their talk at BDW Bucharest 2024, Cristina Andries, Big Data Division Manager at eSolutions, with Lucian Neghina, Head of Data Engineering at eSolutions, presented the business requirements, the big data challenges, and the data-driven steps involved in creating such a dynamic Kubernetes-native data platform, before diving into its applications in analytics and business process optimization. They also showcased the architecture, key modules, and practical use cases for the KubeLake platform. Take a look below!
Artificial Intelligence has become a significant catalyst for innovation and efficiency, however, its successful implementation remains challenging for most. Marian Simpetru, Managing Partner at eSolutions and our most avid promoter of AI, highlighted how smaller technology companies can help organizations leverage AI's potential by presenting the unique advantages they can offer.
Marian showcased some of our case studies, including an AI assistant for the Linux terminal and a versatile transcriber app, to demonstrate how AI can address everyday operational challenges. For practical advice and strategies for effectively integrating AI into your business operations to improve productivity and gain valuable insights from your data, be sure to watch the below talk!
Targeted at DevOps engineers, platform engineers, cloud engineers, and Linux sysadmins, this technical workshop explored KubeSol - a Kubernetes distribution designed primarily for on-premise environments.
Viorel Anghel, Head of Cloud and Infrastructure at eSolutions, discusses the advantages of running Kubernetes for Big Data on-premise versus in the cloud and showed how to install a big data platform on top of Kubernetes for enhanced scalability and compatibility for various implementations. The workshop then proceeded with a live demo featuring the installation and usage scenarios for KubeSol.
The workshop held by Lucian Neghina, Head of Data Engineering, and Viorel Bibiloiu, Big Data Architect at eSolutions, was designed to guide participants through the entire data lifecycle, focusing on the creation of robust and scalable data solutions on Kubernetes using the KubeLake platform.
Leveraging open-source technologies such as NiFi, MinIO, Kafka, Apache Spark, Zeppelin, Trino, and Apache Superset, attendees learned how these components integrate to form a modern data architecture capable of managing diverse data types and high-velocity workloads, from ingestion to visualization. Through practical, hands-on learning, the workshop provided actionable knowledge that participants can apply to build end-to-end data solutions at scale.
Bianca Enache, Head of Agile Consulting at eSolutions, and Bernd Schönbach, Product Owner & Agile Coach at Qvest Digital, held a workshop on the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in projects by fostering agility and a growth mindset. Through theory and practical exercises, this workshop offered a refresher on the core principles of the Agile methodology and could see real-life examples.
They have explored the Scrum framework with the attendants, focusing on roles, events, and strategies for enhancing team collaboration while addressing common challenges and offering practical solutions for continuous improvement. The workshop also introduced Kanban, a methodology that originated in the automotive industry and has been adapted for software development. Kanban emphasizes timely task completion, enabling teams to streamline their processes and achieve better results more efficiently. Learn more about Agile Consulting.
